Attendees at Saudi Mangrove Planting Day exceed one hundred.

  RIYADH: In honour of the International Day for the Conservation of the Mangrove Ecosystem, more than 100 volunteers participated in a mangrove planting event. Students from the Red Sea Global English for Tourism program and officials from the Ministry of Environment attended the session, which was organised by Saudi developer Red Sea Global. Mangrove trees are effective in removing carbon dioxide because they can absorb five to ten times more of the element than other plants, according to an RSG representative. According to Raed Albasseet, group chief environment and sustainability officer at RSG, "building a sustainable mangrove ecosystem is crucial to RSG's commitment to safeguarding and enriching the natural environment of their destinations." The company opened the Red Sea Mangrove Nursery last year, and so far, it has transplanted one million seedlings. This year, it hopes to cultivate two million more.
