Artists from Labuan Bajo and Maumere, East Nusa Tenggara, echo Harmony for the Pacific and Eastern Indonesia.

Indonesia's Jakarta "Harmony for the Pacific: Connecting Indonesia and the Pacific through Culture and Shared Heritage" (HfP) is a cultural diplomacy and collaboration mission that will take place in Suva, Fiji and Indonesia from September 9–27, 2024. It is being organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemlu) and the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbudristek).

A major component of Pacific Elevation's big goal, Harmony for the Pacific, is to improve ties between Indonesians and Pacific Islanders.

The two (two) primary components of Harmony for the Pacific are art and cultural performances and artist residencies. From September 9–17, 2024, 24 music and dance artists from the Pacific (Fiji, Vanuatu, Nauru, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, New Caledonia) and Indonesia (Maluku, NTT, and Papua) participated in the first phase of the artist residency program in Labuan Bajo and Maumere.

September 10, 2024 marked the opening of the first phase of the artist residence program in Indonesia by the Director of Public Diplomacy. Ani Nigeriawati, Director of Public Diplomacy, stated that "art and cultural collaboration is an effective medium to strengthen people-to-people contact and build friendship between Indonesia and Pacific countries."

In partnership with the Videoge community, participants in the Artist Residency in Labuan Bajo examined and learned about West Manggarai culture, including musical genres and approaches, repertory, narrative tactics, and regional instruments.

While this was going on, in Maumere, participants studied and investigated dance and cultural arts in Sikka Regency, including dance forms and methods from the KAHE community, local cultural studies on Kampung Wuring and the Mangrove Watubaing Forest, and enhanced cultural studies using materials from the curator and the local community.

The Indonesian Embassy in Suva is providing funding for the second phase of the Artist Residency Program, which will be held in Suva, Fiji from September 18–27, 2024, in partnership with the Fiji Arts Council. The Artist Residency participants will culminate at a Diplomatic Reception hosted by the Indonesian Embassy in Suva, where they will showcase collaborative works of dance and music that embody common cultural values.

The Harmony for the Pacific initiative will include the Artist Residency program in addition to an exhibition of MSME goods from Eastern Indonesia, talks and film screenings, talk shows about Indonesian and Pacific Island cuisine, and cooking demonstrations.
