Indonesia's Vice Foreign Minister Stresses the Value of Reviving Global South Solidarity






Tanzania's Dar Es Salaam - Pahala Mansury, the vice foreign minister, stressed the significance of revitalising the Global South solidarity spirit, especially between Africa and Indonesia.

Vice Foreign Minister Pahala made this statement in Dar es Salaam on 20 July during a meeting with Tanzania's Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Mbarouk Nassor Mbarouk, and prominent businesspeople from Tanzania.

Vice Foreign Minister Pahala talked about plans for the 2nd Indonesia-Africa Forum (IAF), which aims to revive the spirit of Global South solidarity, particularly between Indonesia and Africa, during a breakfast meeting with Tanzanian business leaders.

Vice Foreign Minister Pahala made invites in this regard and conveyed optimism that Tanzanian businesspeople would attend and actively participate in the II IAF, especially in business forums, exhibitions, and other relevant business gatherings that are country-specific. 

In addition to investigating potential areas of cooperation, such as infrastructure, critical minerals, and capacity building, Vice Foreign Minister Pahala supported the completion of tangible collaborations between the two nations to be included in the deliverables of the Second International Armed Forces.

In addition, Vice Foreign Minister Pahala expressed hopes that Tanzania's president, as well as other government officials and the country's business community, would attend the 2nd IAF in a meeting with Hon. Mbarouk Nassor Mbarouk, Tanzania's Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation.

In order to further enhance economic cooperation between the two nations, Vice Foreign Minister Pahala also expressed Indonesia's interest in looking into the creation of a bilateral investment treaty and preferential trade agreement.

Additionally, Vice Foreign Minister Pahala spoke in favour of expanding the two nations' current collaboration in areas including healthcare, energy and gas, and agriculture and food security. Along with these possible future cooperation, Vice Foreign Minister Pahala and Deputy Minister Mbarouk talked about education, capacity building, the mining industry, EV battery supply chains, palm oil production and processing, and the mineral sector.

Vice Foreign Minister Pahala concluded his working visit to Tanzania by presiding over a virtual meeting with the Head of Indonesian Representatives and Honorary Consuls in Africa to finalise various partnerships between Indonesia and its African partners as part of the IAF-2 deliverables and to consolidate and encourage high-level official and private sector participation from African countries in the 2nd IAF.
