RIYADH: According to the Saudi Press Agency, the National Centre for Wildlife Development started a study on Tuesday with the goal of evaluating the condition of marine ecosystems in Saudi Arabia's Arabian Gulf seas.

According to the NCWD, the project's objectives were to reduce risks, preserve biodiversity, and establish a baseline for creating an integrated management plan for marine habitats.

Given their importance to Saudi Arabia's economy, society, and culture, as well as the numerous beneficial ecosystem services they provide, it will also improve the sustainability of the maritime habitats there.

goal was to offer a fundamental evaluation of the state of mangrove forests, seagrass beds, coral reefs, and related animals and marine species.

In addition to identifying natural dangers connected to human activity that endanger these coastal ecosystems, the research will also look for ways to lessen such threats.

It will also use the project's data to create a successful plan for the preservation and restoration of these coastal habitats.

According to Qurban, the Saudi Arabian Gulf waters span more than 27,000 square kilometres and are home to significant marine habitats that are essential to the survival of a diverse array of marine life.
The CEO of NCWD made the point that because marine systems are subject to a variety of stresses, they need to be continuously monitored and managed sustainably through the implementation of an efficient plan.

The information that the project provides is crucial for conservation and rehabilitation efforts, as well as for helping NCWD and other pertinent parties create a management strategy to protect these priceless environments.
