Cairo This year's Islamic holy month of Ramadan concluded last week, and over 30 million Muslims from all over the world completed the Umrah, or minor pilgrimage, in Saudi Arabia, according to a Saudi official.

The Grand Mosque, the holiest location in Islam, in Mecca is frequented by throngs of worshippers, and Walid Basamad, an official at a state body in charge of overseeing the two sites, noted that capable directorates acted in cooperation and concord to ensure top-quality services to visitors. He said to Saudi TV Al Ekhbariya, "The services were beyond the requirement and expectations."

Since the monarchy has recently installed a lot of facilities, Ramadan typically signifies the height of Umrah at the Grand Mosque, which was visited by a sizable number of believers from outside the kingdom this past lunar month.

The Saudi government announced a number of initiatives to assist worshippers in conducting ceremonies in a smooth and comfortable manner in response to the surge.

Ramadan pilgrims performing the Umrah were allowed to enter the ground level of the mosque and the circumambulation area surrounding the Holy Kaaba. To prevent crowding, authorities also designated specific gates for pilgrims to enter and exit the expansive mosque.

The Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, on the other hand, advised the devout to settle for one shorter pilgrimage and stated that no permission was granted for doing two or more Umrahs during Ramadan. According to the ministry, the restrictions were put in place to help with crowd control, relieve traffic, and permit others to perform the Umrah.
