Dubai: The Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has issued a new rule that states that Umrah visas will now expire after three months from the date of issuance.

This modification is a part of a concerted attempt to expedite the annual Hajj season's preparations in collaboration with the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The declaration, which was made in response to different inquiries on the "X" platform, represented a departure from the prior arrangement in which the visa holder's three-month validity term started the moment they entered Saudi Arabia.

The Ministry made clear that the goal of the adjustment is to more effectively control the number of pilgrims and their activities both before and during the Hajj season.

Visitors were cautioned on Sunday by the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah that the Umrah visa is only intended for pilgrimage and should not be used for work or other non-pilgrimage activities.

They emphasised the significance of following visa requirements, particularly in view of recent cases of visa abuse.

It is recommended that pilgrims honour the terms of their stay and depart Saudi Arabia prior to the expiration of their visas.
