Indonesia's Jakarta Under the framework of the Policy Planning Dialogue, the Foreign Policy Strategy Agency (FPSA) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia and the Strategic Policy Unit (ESA) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands met on March 5, 2024, and discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations and mutual trust through the analysis and formulation of foreign policy.

The meeting, which was co-chaired by Drs. Yayan Ganda Hayat Mulyana, Head of FPSA, and Arjan Uilenreef, Director of ESA, covered a number of topics of shared concern. These included an update on the general elections, a discussion of the strategic report, Indonesia's OECD membership/accession process, regional and global security and the issues that are evolving, international law, data-driven policy formulation, and possible practical cooperation between the Agencies.


The worries and difficulties surrounding present regional and global security were extensively discussed by both delegations, who also emphasized the need to preserve international law for conflict and dispute resolution and prevent the possibility of new conflicts arising in other areas. The Netherlands greeted Indonesia's OECD accession process with open arms and reaffirmed its willingness to assist Indonesia by imparting knowledge and developing its capabilities. The Netherlands thought that potential as gates to Southeast Asia and Europe would eventually result from Indonesia's membership in the OECD.

The meeting's summary was approved, and it included a number of specific projects and programs that will be put into action in 2024 and 2025. These include joint forecast analysis, the Foreign Policy Circle's Talk (FPCT), data analytics dialogue, policy analysis consultation, and publication exchange. Furthermore, the two parties restated their resolve to strengthen their future-focused collaboration.

On March 5, 2024, Indonesia held a 1.5-track Roundtable Discussion on Regional Security as part of the PPD. Think tanks from Indonesia participated in the roundtable to explore strategies for navigating regional and global problems and enhancing bilateral collaboration between Indonesia and the Netherlands. On March 6, 2024, Indonesia also organized Foresight Talks and Data Analytics Dialogue to share knowledge and perspectives on foresight analysis and how to optimize data for the formation of short-, mid-, and long-term foreign policy.
