ANTARA, Badung, Bali - An official from the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy in Indonesia stated that the goal for the country is to welcome one million to 1.5 million tourists from China by the year 2024.

An equitable distribution of the benefits of tourism is anticipated in Indonesia as a result of the influx of tourists.

"We wanted 361 thousand Chinese visitors last year, and we got 707 thousand. The ministry's Regional I Director of Tourism Marketing, Wisnu Sindhutrisno, stated in Badung, Bali, on Saturday, January 20, "This year, we increase the target to 1 million-1.5 million."

The government has seen a new travel trend among Chinese citizens, which calls for an equal distribution of the country's resources. Specifically, 65 percent of these travellers are youthful, have longer vacation durations, and like adventure, nature, and cultural activities.

He confirmed that homestays, tourism villages, and other sites managed by local people in villages will be featured in all promotional campaigns headed towards China in 2024.

For example, cleaning buffaloes and producing chocolate are both done in Yogyakarta. These are the things we want them to encounter," he continued.

He mentioned that the internet helped make the new traits apparent. Chinese travellers have been shown to favour travel places that entail hiking, outdoor adventure, and diving. These destinations are not limited to Bali but also extend to other regions of Indonesia.

"China has four annual holiday seasons, including the Chinese New Year which is the low season of February-March, and September-October; we encourage that," he stated.

He claims that Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Hong Kong have the highest potential for direct flights to Indonesia, followed by Taiwan and Hong Kong.

China is still rated fourth in the world for the quantity of international visitors arriving in Indonesia, particularly in Bali, after visitors from Australia and India.

"We will improve the promotion, but starting from this tear, the Chinese Government seems to be starting to open up and be okay about making overseas trips," he said.

Sindhutrisno confirmed that his organisation had collaborated with a number of significant Chinese tourism sector partners in order to boost visitor arrivals and enhance air travel connectivity.
