A Night of Indonesia: Diplomatic Reception Festivities Enliven the Celebration of Indonesia's Independence Day in Bucharest

Romania's Bucharest On October 25, the Indonesian Embassy in Bucharest hosted a diplomatic reception at Le Château, Bucharest, with the theme "A Night of Indonesia," in observance of Indonesia's 78th Independence Day. The first diplomatic reception since 2019 took place on this occasion.

 

Ambassador Meidyatama Suryodiningrat emphasized Indonesia's economic progress as the world's fifteenth largest economy in his introductory remarks, as well as the goal of "Indonesia Emas 2045." The ambassador of Indonesia also talked on Indonesia's place in numerous international organizations, as well as in regional and global fora. Indonesia stresses peaceful solutions based on the UN Charter and highlights the significance of conflict resolution, all of which are based on its free and active foreign policy. "At a time when many countries choose rivalry, Indonesia chooses to strengthen inclusive cooperation and collaboration," as President Joko Widodo put it.

 

The ambassador also underlined that Romania and Indonesia are two countries that are entering a golden age, saying that they are "two emerging nations." Two newly formed democracies. two developing nations. Two nations of the future, existing today.

 

H.E. Stefan Musoiu, Chairman of the Friendship Parliamentary Group of Indonesia and the Romanian Parliament, and H.E. Iulian Fota, State Secretary for Strategic Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania, attended the Diplomatic Reception in Bucharest as honored guests.

 

About 200 people attended "A Night of Indonesia," which gave them the chance to experience a variety of Indonesian cultural performances and flavors. Among the attendees were members of the Diplomatic Corps, officials from the Romanian government and parliament, the Honorary Consul of Indonesia for Moldova, the Honorary Consul of Indonesia for Constanta, academics, business executives, media representatives, and Friends of Indonesia.

 

Performances like the Cenderawasih Dance, Saman Dance, Sekar Gadung Dance, and the sounds of gamelan music enthralled the audience. The guests' favorites were the Indonesian specialties, such as nasi tumpeng, lumpia (spring rolls), bakso (meatball soup), sate ayam (chicken satay), and dadar gulung (rolled crepe). The audience was also drawn in by the exhibition of different woven and batik textiles as well as the audiovisual presentations that took place during the event. Director General of the National Museum of the Romanian Peasant Dr. Virgil Ştefan Nițulescu commented, "It's an extraordinary event, the best diplomatic reception ever."
